The workplace is changing, and so too are recruiting styles and job requirements.
Are you looking for something new in your professional life? Are you unsure of what to include on your CV? Then give this article a read.
We believe that having someone who is motivated in the workplace and can engage at all levels is crucial for every company. That’s why we talked to Polina Kapitonova, Head of HR in one of our projects. She explained some of the key areas you should focus on to improve your job applications, and — maybe if you’re lucky enough — to become a part of Wisebits too.

In its pool of employees, Wisebits has people from all around the world. That’s quite an achievement. How did you manage this?

HR professional — this is not only about psychology or skills of communication, but this is also about a huge range of skills starting from social awareness and ending up with language knowledge. In order to understand better what fits the team, you must be able to pick up this team as a puzzle.

In our team, we have recruiters that know international recruitment very well. We analyze the economics and market status in every country in order to not become outdated. We try to develop HR brands in the industries we hunt people from and make close connections with the local markets. Developing an HR brand is one of the most important scopes of becoming a famous employer.

What are the steps that someone should follow in order to relocate to Cyprus and start their journey at Wisebits?

It’s very easy! You can use our bot on Telegram: @wisebits_bot. Alternatively, you can message us directly on our website (wisebits.com) or on our Facebook page.

What are the key skills that someone should have when they are being interviewed for your team?

The first thing we check at the interview is honesty. Openness and transparency are two key values in our team.

Secondly, we pay detailed attention to your experience: not just where you have worked in the past, but any pet projects that may be relevant for the position and could bring about a win-win collaboration.

Then, last but not least, we look at your thirst for knowledge. Are you motivated to keep up with new trends, and to improve and develop constantly? That’s a key metric for us as we work in a very competitive industry, education is the factor that helps us to improve our products every day.

These are the core factors of what makes our team competitive.

Can you share with us some interview tips for people on their job hunt?

First scanning happens at CV review. I’d like to talk about things to avoid:

Don’t write your full address on your resume; barely any employers are interested in this. Nobody is too bothered about where you’re working from — the main thing is to be effective professionally in your area of responsibility.

Also, you don’t need to disclose personal details such as your marital status or date of birth on your CV. We are not trying to create a team based on Zodiac signs, so we don’t need this information!

Finally, we don’t put a lot of emphasis on the grades you received at school or university. We are more interested in your experience and whether or not you are the right fit culturally for Wisebits.

And finally — remember that your CV is your face. Pay detailed attention to its structure, creativity, detailed description of workplaces. And do not forget to mention your motivations and key factors while choosing a new place of work.

As an HR manager/recruiter, how do you drive results?

There’s a widespread misconception that HR is a person who simply manages the incomings and outgoings of the company’s personnel. But in reality, HR is a liaison between the team and its owners, business strategy, and people. It’s the person who translates the company’s mission and values through example. Every HR needs to have a unique attitude toward every team member and a way of managing collaborations. To summarize, HR drives results using mechanics combined with business values and personal attitudes to make the team super effective.

What are the trends that you think will shape Human Resources departments over the next few years?

The trends of artificial intelligence, diversity, gig economy, cloud-based HR tech, and productivity skills will drive HR management in the future. They will help to formulate, implement corporate strategies, and improve employee engagement to boost a business.

One of the most obvious things is gamification at every level of HR: onboarding, assessment, performance, and headhunting. Automation has already become a part of our routine but we need to try to make these processes more “human”. People like to communicate and play at the same time; they love being a member of a game, especially if it is relevant to their role.

Turn around and have a look at how you used to work 5 years ago — it’s completely different from what we have now, the same will happen in the future.
